The Winter Storm Nemo blasted into the Northeast packing hurricane-force wind gusts and blizzard conditions swept through the area overnight. The governors of Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and New York all declared states of emergencies on Friday as snow dumped on the Northeast, and gusting winds swept through the region.

More than 650,000 homes and businesses in the densely populated region lost power and New Englanders awoke Saturday to more than 2 feet of snow. It has resulted in cancellations of airline and train schedules and mass transit systems.

Nemo Storm

Do you remember that motto about the U.S. Postal Service (USPS)? ”Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.”  Well, not today…The USPS has suspended mail delivery and will keep post offices closed in all six New England states because of the blizzard that has dumped more than 2 feet of snow throughout the region.  And BTW – Goggle tells me that this commonly misidentified as the creed of our mail carriers, but actually it is just the inscription found on the General Post Office in New York City at 8th Avenue and 33rd Street.

I am hoping all of our eastern brothers and sisters are warm and safe and heeded the call to be prepared.
