The center of a weakened Tropical Storm Iselle moved ashore near Pahala in the southern end of the Big Island at 2:30 a.m., as the National Weather Service extended a flash flood warning for Hawaii island because of heavy rains. It is now grinding toward Oahu and dumping lots of rain in its path. Hurricane Julio is also continuing his march towards the islands.

Oahu is now under a flood advisory, after a gage showed rain falling at 2 inches per hour at Punaluu from a nearly stationary system. Other locations in the advisory include Turtle Bay, Pupukea, Laie, Kahuku and Hauula.

The advisory comes ahead of Tropical Storm Iselle’s closest approach to Oahu.

The National Weather Service said flooding conditions are still possible on Maui, and warned the public not to cross flooded roadways or streams by vehicle or on foot.
