NYC MTA Subway Response Post Hurricane Sandy – Fascinating!

NYC MTA map

I was catching up on New York Times (NYT) magazines over the Thanksgiving holiday and came upon an article that I thought was really interesting.  It was the story of how the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) barely survived Hurricane Sandy.  A great tale of luck, hunches, years of experience, great on-the-fly thinking, in the trenches crisis management, old equipment that worked and new stuff that didn’t. Well worth your time for the “what worked” and “what didn’t work” perspective from the subway system with the most stations and the longest amount of total track, a total of 842 miles (1,355 km) in the world (thank you Wikipedia). 😉
