A Flu Epidemic That Threatens Birds — is now sweeping the Midwest – so far, humans unaffected

I find myself working in the American Midwest, working with an NGO who has activated the Avian Flu plan I co-wrote with the vet in 2006 and have now implemented. They thankfully have no cases but they are less than 50 miles away from their site. This is a great article in the New York Times – and I call it to your attention. The current Flu Epidemic is not affecting humans – but as we know if the world of influenza, you must always refer to things in the present. As the virus is sloppy in its rapid reproduction and is known for morphing and changing. A great time to revisit your infectious disease and pandemic plan.
